Frank J. Burns, 74, a Wheaton resident for nine years and formerly of Glen Ellyn, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at home. He was born July 1, 1927, in Chicago.

A supervisor in the communications industry, he worked 32 years for Illinois Bell and 15 years for GTE Sprint.

He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Wheaton, where he coordinated the Eucharistic ministers.

He also was an avid reader of historical novels and classics.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Grace (Mancari) Burns; seven children, Frank (wife Marti) Burns Jr. of Neenah, Wis., Joseph (wife Cathy) Burns of Bellevue, Neb., Liz (husband Dave) Molitor of Glen Ellyn, Mary Anne (husband Jeff) Paliwoda of Westminster, Colo., Tom (wife Erin) Burns of Carmel, Calif., Jane (husband John) Nilsen of Edina, Minn., and Mike (fiancee Sarah) Burns of Wheaton; 15 grandchildren; and a sister, Mary White of Glen Ellyn. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and James Burns. Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton. A funeral Mass took place Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Wheaton, preceded by prayers at the funeral home. Interment was at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
