The McDermott Family Line consists of the McDermoitts, the Fitzpatricks, the McHughs, and the Hannons. There is not much about the McDermotts in Ireland with the exception of a marriage and a birth. Much of it starts in England.

James was born about 1907. He is the eldest child of Thomas Phelan, Sr. and Sarah B. McDermott.

There is confusion regarding his middle name, as the census data indicates it is a B, while the obituary below indicates a J. Also according to the obituary below, James may have been blind. He may have been in a relationship with someone, but never married that I am aware of.

James died on 10 Jan 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. He was buried on 21 Jan 1965 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Cook, Illinois.
