According to the coroner's report, "the concussion was caused when the deceased was walking down the front stairs of his home located at 711 W. 43rd Street and in some unknown manner fell to the floor, the occurrence taking place on 22 November 1951 at about 1:00 PM. From the testimony presented, we the jury believe the said occurrence was an accident."
